Conditional Formatting

Conditional Formatting in Excel is like giving your spreadsheet tiny glasses so it can notice patterns and highlight what matters all by itself.

Simple meaning:
It changes the color of cells automatically based on conditions you set.

Example:
• If marks are less than 40, color them red
• If sales are above 1,00,000, make them green
• Highlight duplicate entries
• Show highest values with darker shades

Why it’s useful:
It turns boring numbers into a quick visual story. You don’t have to search the whole sheet; the sheet highlights things for you.

Where you find it:
Home tab → Conditional Formatting

What you can do with it:
• Highlight cells based on rules
• Color scales (light to dark)
• Data bars
• Icon sets (arrows, flags, stars)
• Custom formulas for advanced rules
